Burnt Ship Bay Estate Winery, the exclusive wine supplier of the Hockey Hall of Fame, is excited to announce that it's wines will be available at the LCBO February 15, 2015.
To date, Ontario wine drinkers have only been able to get the wines of Burnt Ship Bay Estate Winery at select Ontario restaurants, golf courses, hotels and the Hockey Hall of Fame in downtown Toronto. They are also the premium pour house wine at the Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara. But as of February 15, 2015, the winery's Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Merlot will be found on the shelves of LCBO outlets across the province.
“We have been anticipating this day for quite some time," says Lou Puglisi, co-owner of the Burnt Ship Bay vineyard project. “Some outstanding wines have been crafted for this label, and we are excited to bring them to a broader audience of wine consumer through the LCBO. Burnt Ship Bay wines have been very well received and we are getting a lot of inquiries about when they will be available at the LCBO."
Burnt Ship Bay Estate Winery is a partnership between Puglisi and Marcel Morgenstern, producing exceptional and award-winning wines from Niagara-on-the-Lake, including Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Cabernet Merlot and Vidal Icewine. The Pinot Grigio won gold at All-Canadian Wine Championships, and was named the top Pinot Grigio from Ontario.
Puglisi, named Ontario's Grape King in 2008, also owns Pondview Estate Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. He partnered with Morgenstern in this new winery project that focuses on making wine from their Estate grown grapes.
Morgenstern started his career in the Niagara wine industry as a tour guide and has held management positions with a couple of well-recognized local wineries. A sommelier, he has been selling and promoting VQA Niagara wines for the past 15 years.
“Burnt Ship Bay wines are exceptionally crafted, with close attention to detail in the vineyard and throughout the winemaking process," says Morgenstern. “They are great value for all wine lovers, whether you are an expert in the field or a person who simply likes a great wine with dinner or in conversation with friends and family. We developed this wine to be on par with the best VQA labels coming out of Ontario, but to also be accessible for the average wine consumer."
All Burnt Ship Bay wines are crafted by award-winning winemaker Fred DiProfio, who has made a name for himself in the Ontario wine industry by winning national and international awards for his rich red wines, refreshing white wine and heavenly Icewines.
Burnt Ship Bay's 2013 Vidal Icewine was recently adorned with a silver medal from the Decanter Asian Wine Awards, one of only two Canadian icewines to win a silver medal after a blind taste test by more than 40 of the top wine experts in Asia.
